  A breathtaking experience I'll never forget. The whole visit was just beautiful from setting off to the top of the mountain through the mist and fog to even the scents of the candles in the monastery . All of my senses were awakened to take it all in.

  Magical place. You should go when the kids sing 'the virolai'; they sing like angels!! There is also lot of nature surrounding the monastery. Hiking there or practising rock climbing is very common. You should taste the 'coques', which is a 'sweet-bread' and there is also a gallery with paintings from lots of very important-famous authors :)

  It would be nice if there was a little better infrastructure for relaxing with some nice food and wine, but I get it. The history is fascinating, the buildings great, the story is really great.

  If possible, get here early to avoid the crowds for the major attractions like the Black Madonna. Don't even think of parking up top if its after 9am.

  Journey from Barcelona was easy. The rail up the to the peak was easy and had great views. When you're going up sit on the left of the track rail to get the best views. The cable cars were out of action so everyone used the rail.

  When you finally get to the top the view was great. It was a clear crisp day so the air was fresh and seemed peaceful. The buildings/structure was impressive.

  We decided we didn't need to spend a long time in line to see the black madonna. We had a pair of binoculars that gave us a perfectly fine view from the pews.

  One of the most incredible church complexes I've ever seen in the most beautiful of natural settings. You can easily spend a day here.

  We used Walking tours of Barcelona. They provided great transportation, and just the right amount of structure to the tour. We came here kind of last minute. What a nice respite from the city.
